I once, until very recently, had a friend called Keerthi Teja A. I admit I was unfair to him. He was often the center and butt of all jokes of the gang, and me especially. Being much stronger than him, I also took sadistic pleasure in physically torturing him. But, I like to think that I was always there for him. We have had 6 years of good friendship. We have seen our ups and our downs- the usual misunderstandings, and the special moments that make friendships treasurable ( i cant help it if it sounds gay... but trust me we ain't gay.. far from it!!). How can i ever forget the UFO moment? or the umpteen instances of when we played and farted our guts off when there were more pressing issues at hand like academics??!!! :)
Anyway, Keerthi has always been a bit of a peculiar personality. Women and bright colors seem to fatally attract him and it has always been irksome to see him just glide from one woman to the other. One, because, I belong to the old school of though that if you like someone, then it is not possible to just jump and move on so damn fast; and two because, I must admit, I have never been a ladies man. He is the master when it comes to make the ladies coo and eat from the palm of his hand ( no offense to any lady who reads this blog.. but its just the nature of the man). And, of course hating bright colors is natural to most people!
Keerthi, off-late had looked to desist the fact that he was always the "bakra" when the gang met up. Recently, he even punched a couple of the guys for making fun of his flamboyant romances and social gaffes of which he is the uncrowned king (remember my FIM..well, he takes it down an altogether different alley). But, everything looked in control. Till yesterday....
That was when he made the weird ass phone call. And he simply said.. "Anurag, if you ever want to talk to me again, then you got to have two of the three things that i will now mention, a girl, a job and an apple ipod" and hung up. Apparently, he has called everybody else and said the same thing.
Now, why did he do this? I might never find out, because i do not have any of the three that he mentioned right now, and I do not think that I will have two of them anytime soon. A job, that can be taken care of; but I am off women and who wants to spend a fortune on an apple ipod?
Can friendships be broken that easily?? Only time will tell.
But Keerthi, no matter what you say to us, I shall always remember you fondly as a friend, philosopher and a terrific singer and sportsman. And a guy who I know will make it big in this world.
Till we meet again.. so long my friend.
